Typical ranges
- Entry moderation in mid-size servers: $50 to $150 per month for part-time coverage.
- Senior or lead moderators in large servers: $200 to $500 per month, sometimes more when the server backs a business.
- Hourly arrangements: usually $8 to $20 per hour, more common with brand and creator servers.
- Non-cash compensation: Nitro, revenue share, or perks. Legitimate, but a listing should say so upfront.
What moves the number
- Server size and activity. Ten thousand active members generate far more incidents than fifty thousand quiet ones.
- Coverage hours. Overnight and weekend shifts are harder to fill and pay better.
- Responsibility. Owning AutoMod configs, appeals, or the mod team itself is a different pay grade than watching chat.
- The server's income. Communities attached to businesses pay most reliably.
Negotiating
Ask about expected hours per week before you agree to a monthly number, then do the division. $100 per month for 30 hours a week is not a wage, it is a donation. Posters on discordjoblist must state compensation on the listing, so you can compare roles honestly before you apply.
